Gordon A. Welton, CPA, CA Partner
Gordon graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1985 with a Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours Co-operative Program) degree. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (1986). He was admitted as a partner in 1987.
Gordon is a Licensed Public Accountant in the province of Ontario, a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits, and a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation. He has completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax and Corporate Reorganization Courses.
Derek A. Leighton, CPA, CA Partner
Derek graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1993 with a Bachelor of Mathematics (Joint Honours Chartered Accountancy Option / Computer Science – Co-operative Program) degree. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (1994). He was admitted as a partner in 2010.
Derek is a Licensed Public Accountant in the province of Ontario, a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits, and has completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course.
Jason K. S. Liau, CPA, CA Partner
Jason graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto in 2001 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (2003). He was admitted as a partner in 2014.
Jason is a Licensed Public Accountant in the province of Ontario and has completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course.
Christopher A. Wetzel, CPA, CA Partner
Chris graduated from the University of Toronto in 2000 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (2004). He was admitted as a partner in 2014.
Chris is a Licensed Public Accountant in the province of Ontario and has completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course.
Ryan D. L. Meggeson, CPA, CA Partner
Ryan graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto in 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (2014). He was admitted as a partner in 2022.
Ryan was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for satisfying the requirements of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program, where he was a member of one of 22 groups across Canada that received a final grade of Exceeds Expectations on their Year 3 Project.
Brittany-Leighe R. Elsner, CPA, CA Senior Manager
Brittany graduated from McMaster University in 2012 with an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree and from York University’s Schulich School of Business in 2014 with a Master of Accounting degree. She is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (2016).

Lori Nicolescu Manager
Lori graduated from the University of Ploiesti, Romania in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, and has taken various financial and tax courses from Ryerson and Athabasca Universities.
Lori has over 20 years of experience in public accounting, financial reporting, tax preparation and planning.
Clara Cheung, CPA Manager
Clara graduated from Seneca College in 2018 with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree and from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management in 2018 with a Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting. She is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (2022).
Florence Chan, CPA Manager
Florence graduated on the Dean’s List from York University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Commerce: Honours in Accounting degree and from York University’s Schulich School of Business in 2021 with a Master of Accounting degree. She is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (2024).
Guang Fu, CPA Manager
Guang graduated with distinction from York University’s Business Administration Program in 2020 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (with specialized honours in accounting) and from the University of Toronto in 2021 with a Master of Management and Professional Accounting degree.
He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (2026).

Max Wang, MBA, CPA, CMA Manager
Max graduated from Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics in 2012 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and from McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business in 2015 with a Master of Business Administration. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (2018). Max has completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program.

Jessica postgraduate diploma from the University of Franca (Brazil) in Organizational Psychology in 2013, bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) in 2010 and diploma in Business Management from Toronto School of Management College in 2024.
Our History
The firm was founded in 1953 by Harold M. Chapman. For over 70 years Chapman Welton LLP has provided high-quality, value-for-money service to a multitude of clientele across a wide variety of industries.
Harold M. Chapman, CPA, CA Founder
Mr. Chapman was admitted as a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (1952) and was elected a Life Member in 1998. Mr. Chapman was a partner of Chapman Welton LLP from its inception to retirement in 2005.
Paul A. Matten, CPA, CA
Mr. Matten was admitted as a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (1976) and was a partner of Chapman Welton LLP from 1982 to retirement in 2009.
